Ednaswap
You may not have heard of Ednaswap but you have probably heard their song. Their song, "Torn"--better known as being sung by Natalie Imbruglia is actually Ednaswap's. Imbruglia's cover of the band's song did tremendously better then their own version and Ednaswap earned a "pretty penny" because of it. But Ednaswap is far from a independent or unknown band. They're signed to the same label as such bands as The Cranberries, Jimmy Buffett, Dru Hill, The Insane Clown Posse, Salt N Pepa, U2, and Tripping Daisy, among others. The band has three commercially avaliable albums under their belt including 1998's "Wonderland Park". The band's first single off their album titled "Back On The Sun" can be heard nationwide on radio stations and their cover of The Police's song "Next To You" from the movie "Jawbreaker" starring Rose McGowan has been called "a high school new wave hit". The band is definitely more then a few good glimmering pop songs, as Entertainment Weekly put it, "[Ednaswap] has soaring melodies and plenty of hooks and passion. Most impressively, Anne Preven's vineagry vocals and gimlet-eyed love songs help Ednaswap retain their acid-dipped edge." A band with an "acid-dipped edge" certainly proves for an interesting mix...Anne Preven, lead vocalist for the band stopped by to answer several questions for this mini-interview.... Ednaswap

TEEN SPOT :Hey Anne. Let's start from the beginning...how did you get started in the music business?

ANNE : I started writing songs and playing them for anyone who'd listen. I came to the attention of a producer who signed me up to write and record an album. It was an indie kind of thing, and we never even recorded a record, but through him I met Scott Cutler and we later formed Ednaswap.

T : I heard something about you collaborating with some other artists...is there any truth to this?

A : Scotty and I have over the years been asked to collaborate with other artists, but we rarely do it because when we have done it, in the past, it's been more unsatisfying than satisfying.

T : Now, are you more popular overseas or in countries like Europe?

A : No. We've never even had a record released properly overseas.

T : Ok, now...how'd you get the name "Ednaswap"?

A : I dreamt it.
